The Blue Card is California's Fire/Life Safety Technician classification issued by the Department of Industrial Relations (DLSE Electrician Certification Unit), administered by CPS HR Consulting at Pearson VUE test centers since June 2026. Fire-alarm-centric — the exam draws from NFPA 70 (NEC Article 760), NFPA 72, NFPA 70E, and the Cal/OSHA Pocket Guide for the Construction Industry, and those references are supplied at the testing center (you may not bring your own). Required for fire alarm installation, testing, and maintenance work in California.
