About

What is Fire Cert Academy?

Fire Cert Academy is a codebook-driven practice exam platform built for working fire protection professionals. We cover the full NICET certification family — Fire Alarm Systems, Water-Based Systems Layout, Inspection & Testing of Fire Alarm Systems, Inspection & Testing of Water-Based Systems, Special Hazards, and In-Building Public Safety Communications — plus the NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) exam and a growing roster of state and municipal licenses (California Blue Card, Nevada F-Card, Texas FAL, and more).

Every question is written from the same codebooks your exam tests on — NFPA 72, NFPA 25, NFPA 13, NFPA 70 (NEC), IBC, IFC, and the ICC family. Missed questions surface the exact codebook section you need to revisit, so you stop memorizing answers and start learning your codebooks. The skill that actually passes NICET exams is finding the answer in your codebook under time pressure. That is what we train.

Why It Matters

Why NICET certifications matter

NICET (National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies) is the recognized standard for fire protection technicians in the United States. Levels I–IV mark progressive expertise — earning them validates your knowledge to employers, AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction), engineers, building owners, and state and municipal licensing boards.

For working technicians, NICET certifications unlock better roles, higher pay, and the credibility to sign off on inspections, designs, and installations. In many jurisdictions, NICET certification is now a legal requirement for specific job functions — and the requirements continue to expand. Whether you are testing into the field or moving up the levels, your certification is the gate. We exist to help you walk through it.

Common Questions

Frequently asked

How does Fire Cert Academy work?
You take timed or untimed practice exams that draw randomized questions from the codebooks your real exam tests on — NFPA 72, NFPA 25, IBC, IFC, and others. Every question includes a codebook reference and a detailed explanation, so you learn how to find answers in your codebook efficiently. That is the actual skill NICET and most state exams test.
Do I need to buy the codebooks separately?
Yes. NICET exams are open-book and require the specific codebooks (NFPA 72, NFPA 25, IBC, etc.) on test day. Our explanations include direct codebook references so you build the muscle memory of locating answers under time pressure.
What is included in a subscription?
Unlimited timed and untimed practice exams, weak-area analytics, review mode for missed questions, your full attempt history, study-mode access, exam scheduling tools, and a 7-day money-back guarantee on all plans.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Monthly plans cancel immediately. Six-month and annual subscribers can also pause their subscription for up to 3 months while studying for their exam.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Every discipline has a free sample test with no credit card required. Try a few questions in any cert area before subscribing.
Do you offer team or corporate accounts?
Yes. Team plans start at 2 seats with annual billing. Each seat covers one base discipline you assign per tech, with centralized billing, email invites and claim links, and a manager dashboard that reports timed-exam scores separately from study practice. Read-only manager logins are free and do not use a seat.
