About the Texas Fire Alarm Technician License (FAL)

The FAL license authorizes work on fire alarm systems in Texas. Required for anyone installing, servicing, planning, or certifying fire alarm systems under Texas Insurance Code Ch. 6002 and TAC Title 28.

Texas fire alarm test coverage
FAL requires TFM-11 (Statutes & Rules) and TFM-12 (Technical). RAS requires TFM-11, TFM-12 and TFM-13 (Residential); RAS-SS requires TFM-11 and TFM-13. TFM-12 can be waived with NICET Fire Alarm Level II or ESA Level II.
