The Alabama Electrical Contractors Board licenses journeyman electricians and electrical contractors statewide. Prov gives the exams, open book. The current bulletin lists the 2023 NEC, and the Board has voted to test on the 2026 NEC from January 1, 2027.

Alabama Electrical Journeyman exam: 80 scored, 240 min
Alabama Electrical Contractors Board Journeyman exam (Prov): 80 questions in 4 hours, open book, 75% to pass. Questions follow the NEC, moving from the 2023 to the 2026 edition on January 1, 2027, and American Electrician's Handbook, 17th edition.
Licensing is run by Alabama Electrical Contractors Board; exams are delivered by Prov.
