We are seeking a skilled and reliable Fire System Technician to install, inspect, test, service, and program fire alarm and security systems for commercial and residential clients. This role requires hands-on technical ability, strong troubleshooting skills, and the willingness to work in demanding physical conditions, including outdoor work and ladder climbing in all weather.
*Responsibilities*
Install, inspect, test, and maintain fire alarm systems in accordance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements
Program and configure fire alarm control panels and associated devices (detectors, modules, notification appliances)
Install, program, and service security/access control and intrusion systems
Perform system troubleshooting and diagnose electrical, wiring, and programming issues
Conduct routine inspections, functional tests, and preventive maintenance per code-required schedules
Complete accurate documentation, service reports, and inspection paperwork for each job
Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
Communicate professionally with customers, AHJs, and inspectors on-site
Climb ladders and work at heights to access devices, panels, and equipment in all weather conditions
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; follow all safety protocols
*Qualifications*
NICET Level II (Fire Alarm Systems) preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered
Prior experience with fire alarm system installation, programming, and service (Notifier, Fire-Lite, Silent Knight, or similar platforms a plus)
Experience with security system installation and programming (access control, intrusion, CCTV a plus)
Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable local fire codes
Ability to read electrical schematics and system wiring diagrams
Comfortable climbing ladders and working at heights, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and manage time across multiple job sites
Physical Requirements
Ability to climb and work from ladders and lifts at various heights
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, rain, wind, etc.)
Ability to lift and carry equipment (up to [XX] lbs)
Ability to bend, kneel, crawl, and work in tight or confined spaces as needed
