Fire Alarm Technician

Apply on the employer's siteAMPAM, through its Coastal Fire & Integration Systems division, is seeking experienced Fire Alarm Technicians to perform testing, inspections, service, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Edwards EST4 fire alarm and life safety systems throughout the San Diego area.
The ideal candidate will have experience with fire alarm inspections, NFPA 72 compliance, troubleshooting system deficiencies, and customer-facing service work. Experience with Edwards EST4 systems is strongly preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform annual, semi-annual, quarterly, and monthly fire alarm inspections in accordance with NFPA 72 and local AHJ requirements.
- Test and inspect fire alarm systems, initiating devices, notification appliances, sprinkler monitoring devices, duct detectors, relays, annunciators, and related life safety equipment.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose Edwards EST4 fire alarm system issues.
- Identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
- Complete inspection reports, service documentation, and deficiency reports accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support fire alarm acceptance testing and customer inspections.
- Read and interpret fire alarm drawings, riser diagrams, and system documentation.
- Coordinate with customers, inspectors, project managers, and internal service teams.
- Maintain compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Provide exceptional customer service while representing AMPAM and Coastal Fire & Integration Systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of fire alarm service, inspection, testing, or troubleshooting experience.
- Experience working with commercial fire alarm systems.
- Working knowledge of NFPA 72 and applicable fire alarm codes.
- Ability to read and interpret fire alarm plans and specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Edwards EST3 or EST4 fire alarm systems.
- NICET Fire Alarm Systems Certification.
- Low-voltage systems experience.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- Experience supporting healthcare, commercial, industrial, or multifamily facilities.
